Mountain gorilla, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, Uganda
Is it safe to come out?

Species: Mountain gorilla | Location: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, Uganda

We trekked about two hours into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest looking for the mountain gorilla family we were permitted to visit that day. Finally our guides indicated the gorillas were just ahead. First was the retired silverback standing sentry. Then a bit further down a steep slope we could see the large silverback and a female with her back to us. After standing quietly for several moments, she looked at us and just then her baby peeped around for a look as well. What a thrill.
