Humpback Whale, Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, USA
"Eye Spy"

Species: Humpback Whale | Location: Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, USA

Maui is one of the greatest destinations in the world to see humpback whales. The calm, clear, protected waters off the coast of Maui combined with the largest aggregation of Humpback Whales from December through April, makes it the ideal location to study and watch whales up close.

Which is exactly what I was doing this past February.

We spent nearly 20 hours on the water observing, interacting and photographing these majestic mammals. In the warm waters off Maui’s Lahaina Harbor they are there to give birth, raise their young and breed, often seeing mother calf pairs, competitive breeding pods and the curious juveniles.
