Species: Dall Sheep | Location: Brooks Range, Alaska, United States
A Dall sheep ram near the summit of Atigun Pass, Brooks Range, Alaska. At 4,738 feet, Atigun Pass is the highest point of the Dalton Highway, (the world famous "Haul Road" made famous by the Ice Road Truckers television series,) and also the highest point along the famous Trans-Alaska Pipeline. There was a herd of approximately 20 dall sheep on the slopes above the road on the south side of the pass, This individual was kind enough to let me get a zoomed in close up. This was my first trip up the Dalton Highway from Anchorage. It is 915 miles from Anchorage to Prudhoe Bay. The last 414 miles of the Highway consist of a two lane gravel road, and a true adventure to drive! .
