Half-collared Kingfisher, Kafue National Park, Zambia
Sitting pretty

Species: Half-collared Kingfisher | Location: Kafue National Park, Zambia

We were on a river safari up the Lufupa River when our guide pointed out this bird sitting in a tree on the river's edge. The guide called him the "leopard of birds in southern Africa", ie, this bird is rare to see just like the leopard. He sat very still in the sunlight so that I could zoom in & get a shot of this beautiful bird!
