Black Bear, Northern New Hampsire, USA
The Kiss

Species: Black Bear | Location: Northern New Hampsire, USA

We had been watching this field in New Hampshire where bears occasionally visit, we spotted this wild black bear mamma with her cub following close behind. Unbelievably she sent her cub up a big tree when she heard a noise, when she called the cub down, she greeted it in this most human of ways, gently reaching up to support her baby's head, then a gentle kiss on the lips, I almost forgot to take photos, it was so touching for me. It happened on my birthday, what a special gift it was.

About The Photographer

My husband and I have been video graphing and photographing wildlife for 16 years. My husband Robert tends to do more of the photography, while I concentrate on the video side of things. But whenever I can, I get behind the camera and try my hand at getting some keeper photos. We are serious amateurs and have been on one Nathab trip before to Katmai to see the coastal grizzly bears. We mainly use Nikon gear and just love Bears, Eagles, Moose - one of of dream trips that we hope to have is to go and see the polar bears one day.
