Panthera tigris tigris, Ranthambore National Park, India
Ranthambore Collage

Species: Panthera tigris tigris | Location: Ranthambore National Park, India

Ranthambore National Park in India is very hot and dry, except in the summer monsoon season, when a number of dry riverbeds come temporarily to life. Water is difficult to find, except in a small lake and a few perennial streams. We were lucky enough to spot 1.5-year old brother and sister Bengal tigers coming to a stream to drink and cool off in the early morning. This tiger walked down a steep, rocky slope to gain access to this important, scarce resource. The scene reminded me of a collage of diverse textures, patterns and colors.

About The Photographer

I am a biologist/geologist and work for a state environmental protection agency . I also have an artistic side that I have been trying to cultivate more aggressively as I approach retirement. Animals have always been my passion and I try to travel each year to a new exotic destination where I can observe new wildlife and plants and experience new (human) cultures. I am an amateur photographer, but try to hone my skills with each new adventure.
