After a patient wait for an hour or so I was rewarded with this fantastic pose of a very beautiful bird. Due to the angle and the length of the tail the aperture is closed as far as I dare to try and get the bird and that very long tail all in focus. This is also why the ISO is turned up.

An avid birder from the age of 11 I am a Brit who, due to work, has moved to the US. Luckily Texas offers many avian subjects and photo opportunities and I spend my spare time chasing that "perfect" shot. Forty years on I am still searching
