Species: Brown Bear | Location: Katmai NP, Brooks Falls, Alaska
Our two days at Brooks Camp coincided perfectly with the salmon run at the falls. We left with hundreds of images of brown bears. I was surprised to discover, with so many bears present and active, how individual each bear was in both looks as well as actions. I became intrigued with shooting portraits of the many different bears to document their unique characters. This photo is one that stood out. There's no question this guy gets his way most of the time.
About The Photographer
After decades of travel and landscape photography using film equipment, I was introduced to digital SLR technology during a winter photography safari to Yellowstone in 2006. Digital techniques rejuvenated my photographic enthusiasm. Nature, wildlife, and landscape remain my principal subjects, with occasional forays into architectural and macro photography.
