Species: Woodpecker | Location: North Collier Regional Park, Naples, Florida
It was a typical soccer day. My husband was with his clipboard on the sideline encouraging his youth team; and I was walking the perimeter of the park. I was actually listening to the soccer ball being kicked, referees blowing their whistle, and mothers gossiping on their lawn chair, that I almost forgot my camera was swinging from my wrist.
I was making my way to the field when my cell rang, at the same time this woodpecker was knocking on the bark. I silenced my phone as quickly as I could, before I lost my chance to capture a photo of this lovely red head. The woodpecker flew away. I thought I lost it, when I heard pecking behind me. This woodpecker just flew to the next tree and gave me the opportunity to adjust my lens.
