A Uinta Ground Squirrel chattering away at the Soda Butte Picnic Area in northern Yellowstone National Park on the morning of August 19th, 2013. I had been traversing the Lamar Valley since dawn when I pulled over for a break at the picnic area pull-out and noticed this ubiquitous rodent and his fellow pack members scampering around their burrows or working on their tans in the warm morning sun.
