Long-tailed / Crab-eating Macaques (Macaca fascicularis), Siem Reap, Cambodia
Mother and Child

Species: Long-tailed / Crab-eating Macaques (Macaca fascicularis) | Location: Siem Reap, Cambodia

I came across this mother Long-tailed Macaque cuddling her child at the edge of a jungle near Siem Reap, Cambodia, and was struck by the expression of caring and devotion. Macaques and other primates are our closest relatives. Chimpanzees and humans, for instance, share about 99% of their genetic DNA. Yet roughly half of all primate species worldwide are now threatened with extinction due to human activities. What are you doing to help protect them?
