Species: Brown Bear | Location: Katmai Alaska, USA
I went to the Katmai area of Alaska to photograph Brown Bears. Due to some weather conditions, the salmon had moved upstream, and so had the bears. We rented a float plane and flew to an isolated area with a dense concentration of salmon. Flying overhead, the water was red with salmon. And the area was crawling with Brown Bears. Everywhere we looked we saw bears. I sat in the freezing stream and had a front row seat to the amazing spectacle of enormous Brown Bears leaping and diving after salmon. Although I started to lose feeling in my legs due to the icy cold water, the photos were worth it!
