Species: Polar Bear | Location: Wapusk Park, Churchill, Canada, USA
Polar Bears are constantly practicing PATIENCE. Waiting for the ice on Hudson Bay to freeze so they can get out there and get a real meal, they have been in walking hibernation while on land, and have been subsisting mostly on their fat store from the previous winter, and when the ice finally forms, they have to wait at the seals breathing hole until a seal proves too careless. We were on a four day trip to the Tundra Lodge with Nat Hab, there was a horizontal snowstorm blowing for the entire time except for the, literally, 5 seconds of sunshine when we happened to be in the right place at the right time and I was able to capture this image.
About The Photographer
I've been an amateur photographer for twenty or so years. I really enjoy getting out into nature and working to put myself in a position to, hopefully!, get a good wildlife image.
