African wild dog, Sabi Sands in the Greater Kruger National Park, South Africa
Africa wild dog pups at play

Species: African wild dog | Location: Sabi Sands in the Greater Kruger National Park, South Africa

11 wild dog pups entertained themselves while the three adults of the pack hunted. We came upon the pack at a waterhole where hippos kept an eye on the pack from the water. The pups chewed on sticks, elephant dung and each other. It was an honor to see the 13-member pack from this endangered species. We stayed with the pack to sunset and watched them harass three rhino and look with hope to the hippos for other playmates.
