2016 Wildlife Photo Contest

Lion, Ndutu State Park, Tanzania
Chillin'

Species: Lion | Location: Ndutu State Park, Tanzania

We were fortunate enough to come across 7-8 lions who were, unusually, up in a tree for long periods. The lions took turns climbing up in the tree and jumping down in disgust, as things would get crowded and each new arrival caused major shifting, pushing and growling as everyone found a new spot in the tree. This smart one climbed up to a higher branch and was able to look down on all the commotion from a comfortable perch.

About The Photographer

Diane Lewis is an amateur photographer, who loves photographing wildlife...whether it's an exotic location like Tanzania or Churchill, Canada or something closer to home, like the migratory birds in northwest Ohio. I look for something unusual and take to heart the advice from an admired wildlife photographer: Try to get the animal doing something more than just sitting there.
