Bear, Katmai, Alaska, USA
Evening Swim

Species: Bear | Location: Katmai, Alaska, USA

The most incredible trip I have taken so far was to Katmai Nat Park in Alaska. We flew in by sea plane and landed on the lake. There in the middle of the wilderness of Katmai there is little human "civilisation" but there is an abundance of brown bears. They come here in August and September to fatten up on the salmon the make their way back home to spawn. It was amazing, bear everywhere, we were in their place while they fished, swam and nourished themselves. Late one evening from the viewing bridge, this trio of siblings were playing in the lake while mother bear was fishing nearby. I caught their silhouettes, im sure they are smiling

About The Photographer

I am English of origin but am happily living in the beautiful NW of the USA. Both countries hold so many treasures from the rolling hills of England and the miles of beautiful coastline to the dramatic and varied landscapes here in the USA. I am an RN who loves to spend my free time out and about taking photos and enjoying this wonderful land and the wildlife it holds.
