2016 Wildlife Photo Contest

Gentoo Penguin, Antarctic Peninsula, Antarctica
Gentoo Parent Warming an Egg

Species: Gentoo Penguin | Location: Antarctic Peninsula, Antarctica

I was on a trip to Antarctica (from Ushuaia via the Falkland Islands, East Georgia, East Shetland Islands and to the Antarctic Peninsula). We saw lots of different species of penguins (in total 10) and were fascinated by their actions, their lives. This image intrigued me especially as the egg this gentoo penguin is sitting on is quite obvious. Most others already warmed their chicks or sat on eggs that were invisible to me. I just loved being part of the life of a penguin and able to get this shot.
