Species: Lesser Potoo | Location: Iguazu Falls, Argentina
This is the back view of a lesser potoo sitting on her nest at the end of a dead, upright tree branch. She is naturally camouflaged to look just like part of the branch. She never leaves the nest during the incubation period! To eat, she opens her fetid-smelling mouth, and insects enter it unaware that it is a trap.
