2016 Wildlife Photo Contest

Red Fox, Alaska, McNeil River State Game Sanctuary, United States
Bobtail Fox, McNeil River, June 2015

Species: Red Fox | Location: Alaska, McNeil River State Game Sanctuary, United States

This photo was taken on a trail of the base camp in McNeil River State Game Sanctuary. This bobtailed red fox wandered into our camp in search of mice. After a long day out bear-viewing, everyone in the group was back at base camp making dinner. As I was walking back to my tent, I noticed this beautiful fox on the path beside my tent. After a mad dash for my camera, I was able to snap a few photos of him. He sat in the path for a moment and eventually looked right at me. I was, fortunately, able to capture it in one of my favorite photographs I have ever taken.

About The Photographer

Cropped dsc 1034

Krissy is an Outdoor Recreation student at Southern Wesleyan University. Her interest in photography was sparked by her father's hobby in wildlife photography. Her favorite subject to photograph is wildlife as well. In the summer of 2015, Krissy traveled to McNeil River State Game Sanctuary in Alaska. This proved to be an incredible opportunity to photograph brown bears, foxes, and other wildlife native to the area. She hopes that her career in outdoor recreation will provide many more opportunities to photograph different wildlife all over the country.
