2016 Wildlife Photo Contest

Indonesian Sand Crab, Kuta Beach, Indonesia
Staring Contest

Species: Indonesian Sand Crab | Location: Kuta Beach, Indonesia

Running on the deserted beaches of Kuta Lombok, Indonesia I came across hundreds of these colorful crabs trying to disappear into the sand.

About The Photographer

Self-expression through art is important. No matter the medium of art you choose, there is something therapeutic about creating something you call your own. Anyone can take a picture, but to create a photograph is something entirely different. Sometimes it is easy to not appreciate a photograph as a form of art when living in a world of Iphones, Instagram, and filters.

My choices for subject matter derives from my genuine interest of preserving a moment in time- which really you could say is the definition of taking a photograph. A photograph of a landscape or object can be beautiful and creative, but it is people that make a photograph interesting and hold your attention.

I have traveled to many countries and when I find a person of interest, most of the time all it takes is a simple non-verbal exchange of me pointing at my camera and them smiling in approval. Photography is a language that everyone speaks.
