Jack Rabbit, Gilbert Riparian Preserve, United States
Foraging in the Desert

Species: Jack Rabbit | Location: Gilbert Riparian Preserve, United States

Jack rabbits will typically remain somewhat dormant during the daytime to keep cool. I photographed this jack rabbit in late afternoon trying to find some seeds on a small tree.

A jack rabbit's fur is similar in color to the dirt/ground which is why they will remain still when detecting predators or a threat. This jack rabbit stopped moving and kept still, allowing me to take a quick photo.
