Species: Sand Tiger Shark (Carcharias taurus) | Location: North Carolina, United States
Sand tiger sharks by the dozens congregate every summer near the many shipwrecks along the North Carolina coast. Interestingly, all of the sand tigers in these large groups are female, and many are heavily pregnant. Not much is known about why they group together like this, but hopefully future research will lead us to the answers.
