Greater Roadrunner, Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, Texas, United States
Greater Roadrunner

Species: Greater Roadrunner | Location: Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, Texas, United States

I was visiting Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park in Texas in May 2015 when I spotted three coyotes, and started taken photos of them when I noticed a Greater Roadrunner less than 50 feet past the coyotes. The coyotes either didn't see the Roadrunner or didn't care, and the same for the Roadrunner. When the coyotes bailed out into the woods, the Roadrunner approached me and the others who were close by, and climbed up into a tree just a few feet from where we were standing. He had his lunch in his mouth, and I guess that the meal was more important than going "Beep, Beep!" and running from the coyotes.
