Species: Alaskan Brown Bear | Location: Katmai National Park, United States
After hiking into the Katmai National Park from the coast and fjording streams, we stopped to rest on a mid-stream gravel bar. Soon a mother and two cubs appeared at the river bend coming our way. We watched these three bears work the river for about an hour. As they passed by us, this cub took a brief interest in us, rising to get a better look. As you can see by the blood on her muzzle, it was a successful fishing day. The mother bear paid no mind to us at all.
