Species: Sara Longwing (Heliconius sara) | Location: Poas Volcano National Park, Costa Rica
While taking landscape shots of Lake Batos in Poas Volcano National Park, this little gem landed on my lens and then took off before landing on the flower. This was definitely a diamond in the rough shot because the on and off winds kept causing the butterfly to flap its wings or causing it to fly off only to return after a few seconds, constantly altering my shots and giving me less than desirable results.
About The Photographer
I am an adventure-seeker, nature lover, and zookeeper by profession. I am surrounded by some of the world's most endangered and iconic wildlife that inspire me and my sense of adventure every single day. Photography to me is that one moment that can't be repeated or replaced, and it inspires me to travel the world and have moments in my life and photos that immortalize those experiences forever.
Zookeeping may be my profession and my passion, but photography is a way for me to show the beauty of our natural world and the creatures that we share this world with. My goal (professionally and artistically) is to bring the beauty and awe-inspiring presence of the world and its inhabitants to the forefront and inspire people to help preserve our world and our future.
