Wild Horses (equus ferus), Sable Island National Park Reserve, Canada
Sable Island Stallions

Species: Wild Horses (equus ferus) | Location: Sable Island National Park Reserve, Canada

Sable Island National Park in Nova Scotia Canada is home to the only unmanaged wild horse herd in the Americas. Horses have been roaming free on Sable Island since the mid-1700's and have evolved into their own unique breed and are protected by Parks Canada. In the spring, young stallions battle for dominance and to attain mares. I was extremely fortunate to witness this interaction of two stallions, and blessed with unusually good light for the location and the beautiful backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean.
