The Miracle

Species: Giant Panda | Location: Jiangyou, China

My first panda photo at the Panda Research Center in Jiangyou, China. While I have many good panda pictures, this one remains my favorite. It was a rainy morning and my hopes were not high for catching a panda in a natural setting. A little out of breath from my trek up the path, there she was and, when she looked toward me, my heart stopped as we made eye contact. Love and joy flooded my soul. The camera caught that moment almost on its own. I was in the moment with one of God's most splendid wild creatures brought back from the edge of extinction by China and WWF working close together with commitment and determination. Miracles do happen and I just made eye contact with one!

About The Photographer

Cropped reward

Photography has become a way to tell stories with as few words as possible. It is a way to share with my family and friends my adventures in travel, my encounters with God's special creatures, other cultures and the beauty of the world in which we have all been blessed to live and share. It began as a way to allow my ill brother to be with me on my journeys. I almost gave up after he died but over time, i had developed a small audience, who insisted I continue. They have led me to this moment of deep communication with the Giant Panda. Thank you to all of those folks who encouraged me to share my journey with them!
