Observing a Whale at Play

Species: Humpback Whale | Location: Juneau, Alaska, United States of America

This photo was taken on a whale watching cruise in Juneau, Alaska. The whale began to breach as all eyes turned that way. Note the magnitude of this magnificent marine mammal as emergence takes place from under the sea. It is the type of camera shot you have to be ready for because in a natural setting there is no specific time you can set your watch for this to happen. Nature makes its own schedule and you're fortunate if you happen to be in the area when these awesome sights appear.
