Tough Day at the Capuchin Office

Species: White-Faced Capuchin Monkey | Location: Tortuguero, Costa Rica

We followed this family of white-faced Capuchin monkeys for about a half hour, and were rewarded with this lucky shot. There are lots of research-based reasons for this kind of grooming, but my anthropomorphized 1950s notion is of Dad coming home from a tough day at the office and being greeted by Mom and the baby with a kind word and maybe a nice, dry martini.

About The Photographer

My photographic passions are wildlife and landscapes. Traveling with stringent weight restrictions, as is often necessary on NatHab adventures, requires careful selection of equipment. I've settled on the Micro 4/3 format, which provides a decent sensor size and a large selection of lenses at about half the size and weight of a traditional DSLR system. My "daily driver" is a Panasonic GH3, which normally holds a 14-145mm lens. A 100-300mm telephoto and a 20mm pancake lens handle special situations.
