Sparring Partners

Species: Bison bison (American Bison) | Location: Yellowstone National Park, United States of America

Yellowstone National Park is the only place in the U.S. where bison have continuously lived since prehistoric times. Outside of mating season, bison bulls spend their days in small groups of 5-8 individuals. What makes Yellowstone’s bison so special is that they’re the pure descendants (free of cattle genes) of early bison that roamed our country’s grasslands. Here two bulls pass the time by sparring, not serious battles like the ones they may engage in during the rut.

About The Photographer

Cropped selfie

Serious semi-pro photographer that has lived just north of Yellowstone National Park for nearly 10 years. I enjoy photographing all of the various wildlife and landscapes of the world's first national park. I work in Yellowstone year-round and enjoy the challenge that the four seasons present to my work.
